Bill Borne

Bill Borne

Founder & CEO

A Registered Nurse and graduate of Charity Hospital School of Nursing, William “Bill” Borne founded Amedisys in 1982 and has served as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board since that time.

  • Led Amedisys’s growth to 600 home care and hospice agencies across the United States.
  • Recipient of Baton Rouge Business Report’s 1990 Young Businessperson of the Year and 1990 Entrepreneur of the Year, Forbes magazine’s 2004 Entrepreneur of the Year, and the 2004 Guardian Angel Award from the Caring Institute.
  • 2008 Chairman of the Alliance for Home Health Quality and Innovation.
  • In 2009, appointed to E.J. Ourso College of Business Dean’s Advisory Council and inducted into E.J. Ourso College of Business Hall of Distinction.

Michael Fleming

Dr. Michael Fleming

Chief Medical Officer

Michael Fleming, M.D., joined Amedisys as Chief Medical Officer in 2009, bringing more than 29 years of medical field experience to the position.

  • Past President of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians.
  • Founding President of the Louisiana Health Care Quality Forum, a partnership with the State of Louisiana aiming to provide high-quality health care to the state.
  • Speaker of the Congress of Delegates of the AAFP and Board Chair of the AAFP Board of Directors.
  • Founding Director, Chairman and Chief Medical Officer for Antidote Education Company, which provides continuing education for health care providers.
  • Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center and in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Tulane University Medical School.
  • Louisiana Family Doctor of the Year in 1996.
  • Received Family Medicine Award upon graduation from LSU Health Sciences Center. LSU presented him with the award in 1975. In 2003 the award was renamed and is now the Michael O. Fleming Award in Family Medicine.

Tasha Mears

Tasha Mears

Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations

Tasha Mears is the Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations and is responsible for quality infrastructure. Ms. Mears first joined Amedisys in 1998 as a Clinical Director, before ascending the ranks as Regional Administrator, Regional Director of Business Development and Director of Episode Management.

  • Holds two associates degrees and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Chair of the Quality Working Group for the Alliance for Home Health Quality and Innovation.
  • Serves on the Technical Expert Panel Project: Care Transition Measure Development, a prestigious panel formed to develop measures used to deliver quality care to Medicare beneficiaries.

Patrick Thompson

G. Patrick Thompson

Executive Vice President of Administration and Chief Information Officer

G. Patrick Thompson, Jr. is the Executive Vice President of Administration and Chief Information Officer. He has more than 23 years of experience in streamlining business processes and improving operational efficiencies.

  • Previously Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of The Shaw Group, Inc., a Fortune 500 engineering, technology, construction, fabrication, nuclear, environmental and industrial services company.
  • Also at Shaw, served as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Shaw Environmental & Infrastructure, Inc., a Shaw subsidiary.
  • Recipient, Top 100 CIO and Computerworld magazine awards.

Julie L. Lewis

Julie L. Lewis

Vice President of Health Policy and Government Relations

Julie L. Lewis assists Amedisys in the continued development of a patient-centered, value-driven agenda for effective chronic disease management and end-of-life care that focuses on the quality and sustainability of the U.S. health care system.

  • Ms. Lewis works with hospitals, physicians, and private payers to develop pilots to test new delivery and payment models for post-acute, palliative, and chronic disease care.
  • Past Director of Health Policy at The Dartmouth Institute (TDI) for Health Policy and Clinical Practice in Hanover, NH.
  • Prior to joining TDI, served as an Associate for Quality Programs at the American College of Surgeons (ACS) in Washington, D.C., where she led creation of the Surgical Quality Alliance.
  • Previously, she held various positions in the U.S. House of Representatives for the former Speaker of the House, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi. Worked on domestic issues for Congresswoman Pelosi, including health care, banking and finance, education and women’s issues.
